A quiet walk around a quiet Village

by Michael Cameron

Bellagio is a village on a promontory jutting out into Lake Como, in Italy. It’s known for its cobbled lanes, elegant buildings and Villa Serbelloni Park, an 18th-century terraced garden with lake views. Nearby are the Tower of the Arts, a venue for exhibitions and performances, and the Romanesque San Giacomo Church. Close to rocky Loppia Beach, the Museum of Navigational Instruments displays sundials and compasses.

From our hotel we could see the village of Bellagio, and it was a must stop. Having visited Las Vegas three times (as a non gambler!) I was captivated by the dancing fountains at the Bellagio Hotel. It seemed only right that I go to the village where the hotel got its name. It was a no brainer to have lunch at the original Hotel Bellagio.

It was a Sunday the day we caught the local ferry, and both of us were concerned what if anything was opened. After a sleepy start, things started to come to life, and whilst still quiet there was enough to see and do. The streets as you will see were very narrow, and at times very steep, The coffee was delicious. Sadly I can't claim credit for the night time photograph in this blog.
